Thank goodness the weather is finally getting warmer because this weekend's TTC subway closures are going to make you want to take a walk.

Over the weekend the installation of the new Automatic Train Control signalling system continues and this time it's affecting a big chunk of Line 1, including Union Station.

There is some good news for those that take the streetcar. On Sunday, the King and Queen streetcar lines will be free for riders between 4 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. At least it's not all bad news, right?

Here's what you need to know about this weekend's subway closure:

What’s Closed

There will be no subway service on Line 1 between St. George and King stations on Saturday and Sunday, due to the installation of the ATC signalling system. That covers Bay, Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick, Osgoode, St. Andrew and Union terminals.

How To Navigate The Closure

Shuttle buses will operate as will Wheel-Trans service. Since King Station is not yet accessible, passengers in need of an accessible station are advised to exit and request Wheel-Trans service at Queen Station.

How To Pay

If you’re paying with PRESTO during the subway closure just tap your card when you first board the TTC.

If you are transferring from the subway to a shuttle bus or from a shuttle bus to the subway, don’t tap your PRESTO card again. Unlike normal subway to bus transfers, shuttle buses do not need a second tap.

Cash and token fares will still be accepted on the shuttle bus, which will get you a transfer onto the subway (and vice versa).

Normal service will resume on Monday.
