You can expect another weekend of TTC subway closures, all thanks to the installation of the Automatic Train Control signalling system.
For the second time this year, the closure is impacting four stations between Lawrence to St. Clair. Fortunately, the closures will only last one day.
But that doesn’t mean it’ll be smooth sailing for TTC commuters. Even though the Line 1 closures are limited to Saturday, Line 2 riders will notice delays on Sunday with six stations from St. George and Broadview opening later than usual for beam replacement work.
St. George, Bay, Bloor/Yonge, Sherborne, Castle Frank and Broadview stations will open at 12 p.m. on Sunday to accommodate the replacement. Shuttle buses will operate along the route lines starting at 8 a.m.
Here’s what you need to know about this weekend’s subway closure:
There will be no subway service on Line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair stations on Saturday due to the installation of the ATC signalling system. That covers Eglinton and Davisville terminals.
How To Navigate The Closure
Shuttle buses will operate, as will Wheel-Trans service. Since Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, passengers in need of an accessible station are advised to exit and request Wheel-Trans service at York Mills Station.
How To Pay
If you’re paying with PRESTO during the subway closure, just tap your card when you first board the TTC.
If you are transferring from the subway to a shuttle bus or from a shuttle bus to the subway, don’t tap your PRESTO card again. Unlike normal subway to bus transfers, shuttle buses do not need a second tap.
Cash and token fares will still be accepted on the shuttle bus, which will get you a transfer onto the subway (and vice versa).
Normal service will resume on Sunday.
