Those looking to mark the end of the year with some celebratory drinks should know that the TTC will not be offering free rides on New Year’s Eve.
For the past seven years, the TTC and Corby Spirit and Wine would partner together to offer Torontonians free rides to and from their New Year’s Eve festivities.
However, TTC spokesperson Stuart Green says after discussing with Corby — and given the current COVID-19 restrictions in place — the free service will not be offered this year as “partying is not an appropriate thing to encourage.”
“We hope everyone safely celebrates the end of 2020 by NOT gathering!” said Green.
Green confirmed to Toronto Storeys that this year will mark the first time since the program launched that the service will not be free on New Year’s Eve.
The #TTC won’t offer free New Year’s Eve service. In discussion with our great sponsors, @CorbySW, and given current restrictions, partying is not an appropriate thing to encourage.
