Seeing Toronto Under Quarantine Still Takes Getting Used To (PHOTOS)

While most of Toronto’s residents have been following the province’s social distancing orders and staying indoors for the past three weeks, it’s still a strange feeling to see Canada’s largest, and arguably most vibrant, city at a complete standstill.

Whether you’re looking out the window of your home, enjoying a breath of fresh air outside, or scrolling through social media, it’s incredibly obvious the COVID-19 outbreak in the city has taken over everyday life, and in turn, made Toronto look like a total ghost town.

And while it’s a good indicator that residents are abiding by the government’s measures to stay indoors as much as possible, it’s still an ominous feeling to see empty streetcars pass by, catch iconic city landmarks and attractions with a noticeable lack of crowds, or wander typically bustling streets that are now deserted and empty.

Perhaps it’s a scene we’ll never really feel comfortable with, as it’s a reminder of how much things have already changed in such a short amount of time. Yet, at the same time, seeing our beloved city eerily empty should also remind residents that if they don’t follow the measures currently in place from local, provincial, and federal governments, we could be in this situation a lot longer than any of us want to be.

So, without having to go outside, take a look at how vastly different Toronto looks as the city continues to flatten the COVID-19 curve.
