Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the City of Toronto today, warning of strong winds this afternoon.

According to the weather agency, strong westerly winds are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into the early evening, with some gusts of up to 80 km/h possible. As important as the high winds is the possibility of power outages.

The winds are expected to diminish later this evening.

Last night, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) issued a Watershed Conditions Statement that has since been removed. It appears rain has been replaced by wind.

Hold on to your homes today, Toronto – and hope you don't get hit with a power outage.
