A snowfall warning is currently in effect for Toronto as up to 25 cm of snow is expected this week.

Environment Canada issued the snowfall warning Tuesday afternoon, with snow expected to begin around midnight before becoming heavy Wednesday afternoon. The weather agency advises heavy snow with a total amount of 15 to 25 cm expected.

The heavy snow will then continue through Wednesday evening before tapering into flurries on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the weather agency says snow will be heavy at times and winds of up to 50 km/h are also expected after midnight. A low of -7ºC is expected in the evening, which will feel more like -13ºC overnight.

"This snow is the result of a low-pressure system from the central United States that is forecast to track over Eastern Ontario Wednesday night," said Environment Canada.

The weather agency is advising drivers to adjust their driving with the changing road conditions.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas."

With conditions expected to rapidly change on Wednesday, make sure to give your self extra time if you have somewhere to be. Otherwise, you may want to consider hibernating indoors.
