The Toronto Pride Parade is like the peak of Pride Month. So get ready for big things when the parade finally takes place this Sunday June 24, because it will take over Yonge St. for most of the afternoon.

Pride Month is a worldwide, annual celebration every June. It continues to bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ community and honour its community as well.

Toronto's Pride Month kicked off June 1 at city hall, when the rainbow flag and trans flags were raised for all to see. And on Sunday, the entire city can be a part of the Pride Parade.

So we've put together everything you need to know to be prepared.

When

Now, the parade starts at 2 p.m. at Church and Bloor, before turning on Yonge and travelling south and ending at Dundas.

The roads are always a mess around Pride weekend, so here is the list of road closures this weekend to keep in mind.

What To Bring

Costumes, colour, and sparkles are a mainstay of the festivities, but it may be a bit more subdued this year. It's expected that many participants will wear black to commemorate the lives lost in our community over the past year.

Bring plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses, a water bottle (and water gun if you like).

The forecast does say some rain is possible, so come prepared or, heck, just enjoy the shower. Singing in the rain is always fun.

What To Know

Get there early to grab your spot along the route.

Even pedestrians are prevented from crossing Yonge, so make sure you and your squad are on the same side of the road (cross underground at College station if needed).

It may be fun and it is absolutely a celebration, but don't forget the Pride March also represents the triumph and the strength of the LGTBQ+ community.

It's not just a hashtag; it's a demonstration.

The Toronto Pride Parade Map

While the Pride Parade might be the highlight of the weekend, it's not the only parade taking place. The Dyke March is Saturday at 2 p.m. and the Trans March is set for Friday at 8 p.m.
