What could be more Canadian than adding a skate to your daily commute.
Well, starting Nov. 29, you’ll be able to skate, for free, at Union Station’s Sir John A. McDonald Plaza on Front St. The site will be transformed into an outdoor rink half the size of an NHL ice rink (the standard ice rink in North America measures 200 feet long by 85 feet wide.).
It will be the largest outdoor skating rink in Toronto.
The rink will be open every day, except Christmas Day, provided the weather co-operates.
TD and Union Station are offering free skating lessons and helmet rentals. The rink will be open Monday to Friday from 11 am to 7 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm.
The nearby Natrel outdoor rink at Harbourfront usually opens mid to late November.
Free music concerts plus gift wrapping is being sponsored by TD inside the historic West Wing of Union from Dec. 9 to Dec. 24.
