Another day, another TTC service disruption that has left commuters stranded after a partial derailment of a train on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth this morning.

As a result, there was no service on Line 2 between Jane and Ossington stations during the early morning commute while crews fixed the "mechanical problem."

"Our crews are reporting a partial derailment of one of the middle cars of a train that was leaving Keele Yard. It was not in service. Currently assessing cause and rerailing plan but this will be a few hours to resolve," said TTC spokesperson Stuart Green.

Green added that 100 shuttle buses were ordered to the stations along Bloor Street, and passengers were informed they could use their TTC fare to access GO Transit and Union, Dundas West, and Kipling stations in the meantime.

However, he added that this "could take a while."

At around 8:30 am, Green tweeted that there was still no ETA on service resuming.

“Third and fourth cars have been decoupled for better access to derailed car (4th),” Green posted.

However, just after 9:15 am, Green said the train had been re-railed and everything should be clear in an hour with regular service resuming "by lunch or before."

And while the TTC did issue commuters a number of warnings this morning, customers were still very upset with the morning delay. Photos and videos shared on social media show serious overcrowding on a number of surface routes, a scene that could make anyone feel claustrophobic.

One commuter waiting at Jane Station said there were multiple police cars and crowds covering half the street for a whole block.

"People are going to lose wages, some even their jobs, over this. Maybe 7 buses passed by me so I’ve cut my losses & working at a nearby coffee shop."

Here’s to hoping that the rest of the day runs smoothly on the TTC.
