On Friday morning, Toronto residents woke up to a thick blanket of fog that all but swallowed the city whole, with the aftermath resulting in some pretty eerie photo opportunities.

Environment Canada issued a fog advisory for Toronto at 6:30 am on Friday morning, as the thick fog began rolling in. At times, the display was both beautiful and mesmerizing, yet also slightly ominous. As a result, the tops of Toronto buildings, including the CN Tower, were pretty much non-existent.

Luckily, Torontonians documented the other-worldly sights and posted their snaps and video online for those that missed the display to enjoy.

In case you slept in or missed the photo opp, here’s what this morning’s fog display looked like.
