Toronto, prepare to bundle up. Temperatures are going to plummet this morning, which is why Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Warning for the city.
"Bitterly" cold wind chills are expected this morning with temperatures hitting -19ºC, which will feel closer to -27ºC. However, Environment Canada advises temperatures "should" rise later this morning.

The weather agency is advising the public to keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, such as extra blankets and jumper cables. Additionally, outdoor workers are being advised to take regular breaks to warm up.
Environment Canada also says that if it's too cold for humans outside, it's also too cold for pets to stay outside. During extreme cold, there is an elevated risk of frostbite and hypothermia, and people should take extra precaution. The City has warming centres open for homeless people in Toronto, with one open at Metro Hall that will remain open continuously until noon on the day an alert is terminated.

On Friday evening, temperatures will remain cold, with a low of -17 ºCº expected, which will feel more like -25ºC overnight.
As for the weekend, temperatures are expected to rise, with a mix of sun and clouds and a high of -1ºC expected on Saturday, and 0ºC and flurries on Sunday.
