Easter weekend is finally here! On Friday, April 19, most Canadians will have the day off and a lucky few may even get Monday, April 22 off, too.

To help you navigate what’s open and what’s closed this long weekend, we’ve compiled a handy list to keep you and your family from going stir crazy. Good Friday is observed across most of the country, excluding Quebec. In Quebec, Easter Monday is typically observed, however, employers can choose to give their employees the day off either on Good Friday or Easter Monday.While most businesses will be closed in and around the city on Friday, there are a few exceptions.

Places That Are Closed

  • LCBO and Beer Store
  • Banks
  • Provincial and municipal government offices
  • Post offices and mail delivery
  • All Toronto Public Library branches

Places That Are Open


Most grocery chains will be closed on Good Friday. However, there are a few exceptions, including:

  • Fresh and Wild (Bloor and Spadina locations)
  • Galleria Supermarket (Yonge, York Mills and Bloor W. locations)
  • Loblaws (Carlton St.)
  • Pusateri’s (Yorkville, Bayview and Avenue Rd. locations)
  • Saks Food Hall (Yonge St.)
  • The Food Depot (Dupont St.)
  • The Kitchen Table (Spadina, Bay and King W. locations)
  • Whole Foods (Avenue Rd.)
  • Popbox MicroMrkt (Dovercourt Rd.)
  • T&T (Promenade, Warden, Central Parkway, Cherry, Yonge, Woodbine and Kennedy locations)
  • Various Rabba locations

Most malls and retail stores are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Some exceptions are:

  • Eaton Centre (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday)
  • Hillcrest Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday)
  • Markville Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday)
  • Pacific Mall (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Promenade (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday)
  • Toronto Premium Outlets (9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m on Sunday)
  • Upper Canada Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday)
  • Yorkville Village (12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday)
Fun And Entertainment
  • AGO (317 Dundas St. W.) – Friday and Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Aga Khan Museum (77 Wynford Dr.) – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Allan Gardens Conservatory (19 Horticultural Ave.) – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Bata Shoe Museum (327 Bloor St. W.) – closed Friday, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Monday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday
  • Casa Loma  (1 Austin Terrace) – 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Centennial Park Conservatory (151 Elmcrest Rd.) – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • CN Tower (301 Front St. W.) – 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Evergreen Brickworks (550 Bayview Ave.) – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Fort York (260 Adelaide St. E.) – closed Friday, open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday
  • Gardiner Museum (111 Queen’s Park) – Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • High Park Zoo (1873 Bloor St. W.) – 7 a.m. to dusk
  • Hockey Hall of Fame (30 Yonge St.) – Friday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 am to 5 p.m.
  • Movie theatres
  • Ontario Place (955 Lake Shore Blvd. W.) – 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Ontario Science Centre (770 Don Mills Rd.) – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday
  • Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada (288 Bremner Blvd.) – 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Riverdale Farm (201 Winchester St.) – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Royal Ontario Museum (100 Queens Park) – 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Toronto Zoo (2000 Meadowvale Rd.) – 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m on weekends
Pharmacies And Clinics

Visit to find an open walk-in or pharmacy near you.

Transit And Traffic

The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule.

The GO Train will operate on a Sunday service for Good Friday.
