At a time of cancelled summer travel plans, nixed overnight camps, and heightened stir craziness, it may be worth the splurge to call a stunning Georgian Bay beach house home for a week.
Offering a needed escape from Toronto’s packed parks and beaches, Georgian Sands is a custom-built beach house that will transport you to Malibu or the Caribbean – complete with your own private beach for your COVID-19 ‘bubble’ to enjoy.
For $20,053.95, it could be yours for a week.
The massive, view-filled, beach house is a designer’s dream. Features like pristine white wood paneling throughout, a breezy and open design, and sweeping views of the water bring the previously mentioned Malibu beach house vibe. Modern, colourful furniture and art throughout the complement the property’s palette.
The Great Room – one of the stars of the show at Georgian Sands – features custom designed mid century-inspired furnishings, a two-sided gas fireplace, and a mirror that runs the span of a 30-foot, two-storey wall. A custom walnut table seats up to 16 guests comfortably.

Another spot worth writing home about is the property’s spacious kitchen that’s perfect for entertaining. A pleasing space for the household chefs, the kitchen features a massive counter and top-of-the-line appliances, including a Wolfe range, two Miele dishwashers, SubZero fridge and freezer, and a steam oven.
The custom-built (yes, this is a theme throughout) staircase leads to an upper bridge that spans the two sleeping wings and gives way to breathtaking views of the beach, Georgian Bay, and across the Niagara Escarpment.
The master suite has a spa style shower and freestanding bath, plus a private and fully separate water closet. The floating king sized bed offers a full view of the boathouse and the bay. Across to the other wing, there is a guest bath with freestanding shower and two guest bedrooms; one for children with four full sized bunkbeds and the other with a queen bed. To the right of the staircase is a guest suite with a king bed and bay views, plus it’s own washroom and – an appreciated perk for the remote workers – a media room that doubles as an office, with two desks, a monitor, and printer.
A lower level houses a family-style bedroom with a queen bed and a double, in addition to a bathroom with a shower. It also features a spot to gather and watch movies on the flat screen TV, a games room with a card table, plus puzzles and board games. Laundry facilities are also found on the lower level.
The property also shines in its use of outdoor space. A porch spans the front of the property and a screened porch off the kitchen offers lake views and plenty of seating. The boathouse has an upper deck and chairs for taking in the beautiful bay views. The lower level features a walkout onto a deck with an eight-person hot tub.
Other talking points of this splurge-worthy rental include satellite TV and wireless Internet, a Sonos sound system throughout, five wall-mounted TVs, a double wine cooler, in-floor heating plus air conditioning, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and water toys. Concierge services are available, including catering, private chef services, daily maid service, water taxis, yoga on the dock, boat rentals, trampoline and water lily rentals, grocery, wine and beer stocking. You can even arrange to have cocktails waiting upon your arrival.
In other words, life’s a beach in Georgian Bay.
