What’s Open and Closed in Toronto on Family Day

Monday, February 17, marks Family Day in Toronto. Since most Ontarians have the day off, we’ve compiled a list of places that are open and closed for the holiday to keep you and your family entertained all day long.

Family Day is not a national holiday, but it is observed in other provinces including New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. While most businesses will be closed in and around the city on Monday, there are a few exceptions.

Places That Are CLOSED:

  • LCBO and Beer Stores
  • Banks
  • Provincial and municipal government offices
  • Post offices and mail delivery
  • All Toronto Public Library branches

Places That Are OPEN:

Groceries

Most grocery chains will be closed on Family Day. However, there are a few exceptions including:

Public Transit

The TTC will operate on holiday service on Family Day with subway and most routes starting at 6 am. Any routes that do not normally operate on Sundays will not operate on the holiday.
