It's a rainy weekend in the city, but that doesn't mean you have to spend all your time indoors.

From a drumming festival in Regent Park to the 12th annual BIG on Bloor festival, there's plenty of free events going on in the city that are worth checking out (with an umbrella).

1. BrazilFest

Where: Earlscourt Park  - 1595 St. Clair Ave. W.When: Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

BrazilFest is back for its 16th edition. This year, the popular festival will include 12 hours of concerts and performances by artists like DJ Simba, Trinity House and the Dance Migration Company. The festival will also include a beer garden, Brazilian BBQ vendors and other gastronomical treats.

2. Muhtadi International Drumming Festival

Where: 600 Dundas St. E.When: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Feel the rhythm of the beat at the Muhtadi International Drumming Festival in Regent Park. This two-day festival features over 30 performers playing sets from a mix of cultures. This year's festival will also include a "Let The Children Play" division, which encourages children of all ages to play the percussions.

3. BIG On Bloor Festival

Where: Bloor St. W. between Dufferin St. and Lansdown Ave.When: Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Bloordale is shutting down on Saturday for the 12th annual BIG on Bloor Festival. Park your car and walk along Bloor between Dufferin and Lansdown for a celebration of art, music and culture. This year's event will feature a night market including 100+ shops and vendors.

4. Movie Night At The Planet - Featuring Moana!

Where: 1655 Dupont St.When: Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Take the kids out to see a movie without spending a million bucks on movie theatre popcorn. TAS development is hosting a movie night at The Planet for FREE! If you plan on snacking during the film, popcorn and snow cones will be available for purchase. But don't worry, they won't cost you anywhere close to the cost of goodies at a big box theatre.

5. Public Consultation For Quayside

Where: George Brown College Waterfront Campus - 51 Dockside Dr.When: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Have an opinion on Sidewalk Labs' Quayside project? Share your feedback with Waterfront Toronto at this public consultation. The session will include a presentation and a series of breakout sessions followed by discussion and next steps.

6. Taste of Germany

Where: Evergreen Brick Works - 550 Bayview Ave.When: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Head up to Evergreen Brick Works for Toronto's first German Food Festival. Enjoy tasty traditional dishes like Sauerkraut, Bratwurst and, of course, beer! This festival will be part of Brick Work's weekly artisan market, which is also free to attend. This weekend, Brick Works is also hosting a (FREE) DIY Bike Repair workshop where you can learn how to fix a flat, adjust a gear or just give your bike a tune-up.

7. First-Time Buyers' Seminar

Where: 8 Sampson Mews, Suite 201When: Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

8. Toronto Designer's Market Pop-Up

The third offsite series for TDM sees local designers and artisans take up shop in the stunning One King West Hotel and Residence. The event will be located in the hotel's famous vault where passersby can shop for accessories, clothing, home decor and more.

9. FREE Comedy With Todd Graham

Toronto-based comedian Todd Graham is hitting up five local record shops to celebrate the release of his debut comedy album Bustin' Loose! Stop by for guaranteed laughs.

10. DIY Poster Making With Dan Bergeron

Where: The BentwayWhen: Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Artist Dan Bergeron is leading the first in a series of DIY poster-making workshops at The Bentway this weekend. The workshop will include a presentation on the impact of posters as both an art form and as a tool for protest.

Midnight Madness

Where: Downtown OakvilleWhen: Friday from 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Escape the city and head over to Oakville for the city's largest community event of the year. Midnight Madness will feature great food, entertainment and six-blocks worth of brag-worthy deals from local vendors. If that wasn't enough, the event will also feature local artists and community groups with offerings that are fun for the whole family.

Toronto
