Driving downtown over the holidays? The city of Toronto is giving drivers the ultimate Christmas gift: free street parking!

That's right, The Toronto Police Service Parking Enforcement Unit will not be enforcing on-street parking on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

That doesn't mean you can park anywhere you want on those days. Only metered areas, rush-hour zones and Monday to Friday posted zones will be left unenforced. All other areas will still be monitored.

And it's not just the police who are patrolling parking in the city. Just last month the Toronto Police created an online portal that records parking complaints online. So, don't be a grinch and block in your neighbours, even if you think they're out of town.
