It's time for another long weekend, and we certainly aren't complaining... about the day off at least.
The Civic Holiday is a notorious day for summer traffic with tens of thousands of city dwellers escaping the city for cottage country. Also known as Simcoe Day in Toronto, the August long weekend is not a statutory holiday, so while many provinces and municipalities observe the day, not all employees are given the day off.

Transit And Traffic
The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule.
If you plan on taking the TTC around the city this weekend, take advantage of the weekend day-pass, which extends to include the holiday Monday. The pass, which allows unlimited one-day travel for $13, can be purchased between Saturday and Simcoe Day on Monday.
One day pass covers one adult and not more than five youths (13 to 19 years of age); or two adults and not more than four youths; or two adults.
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, August 5.
