It's always impressive when a building's progress is well captured, and with it, the evolution of the skyline around it.

Anew time-lapse video shows Toronto's CIBC Square under construction — from non-existent to rising toward becoming one of the taller buildings that define the city's growing outline.

Ground broke for the project, which consists of two towers, in 2017, and construction of the first tower is expected to be completed later this year. When complete, the towers will comprise 3 million square feet of commercial space on a downtown campus.

The two towers, 81 Bay Street (2020) and 141 Bay Street (2024) will feature state-of-the-art offices and collaborative spaces across 49 floors and 50 floors, respectively. A one-acre elevated park will connect the two towers, which is part of an extensive suite of amenities that includes unparalleled views of Lake Ontario and Toronto’s skyline.

The journey up until this point is illustrated in a new time lapse that was recently shared on Reddit and was created from original photos captured by UrbanToronto Forum member skycandy. Reddit user somemidtowner aligned and sequenced the photos into an animated GIF that shows the first tower under construction and other towers in the area rising.
