Toronto is Throwing a Two-Day Bash for its 186th Birthday Next Month

Like a fine wine, Toronto keeps getting better with age.

In fact, our city is lookin' so good, Celebrate Toronto is throwing a two-day bash in honour of its 186th birthday next month.

The free event, running March 7 and 8, will celebrate all things Toronto, highlighting local vendors and the city's diverse culinary scene. Plus, there will be live entertainment and family-friendly activities to look forward to as well.

The major milestone celebrates when Toronto was founded in 1834, after the former town of York was renamed in order to distinguish itself from New York.

As part of the festivities on Saturday, guests can shop from local vendors, enjoy eats from food trucks, including Smoke's Poutinerie, Beaver Tails, and Pacho's Bakery to name a few, and live music from Toronto-based bands. There will also be plenty of fun photo-ops, prizes up for grabs, and a family interaction area.

On Sunday, guests can check out the DJ Cosplay Skate Party, the hot chocolate bar, interactive activities, shopping, and delicious eats. Those needing skates can rent some on-site.

Plus, in addition to the individual vendors and activations, event organizers have partnered with local ETSY Sellers to bring “Toronto Made Market” featuring 70 local vendors in a 6000-sq-ft. pavilion tent.

So, clear your schedules and make some room to celebrate our fine city.
