Commuters can toast in the New Year with a little relief. Now GO train and bus services plans to improve travel times with new express train options  and some tweaks to over 20 bus services and train routes to reduce wait times. Some commuters could save as much as 10 minutes per trip!

Accumulated minutes = hours of time saved! Minute counters at Metrolinx have somehow come up with the exact amount of time passengers will save in 2020: 527,040 minutes!!!

Four express service trains from the Lakeshore East to Union will now stop at the Rouge Hill Go station beginning Jan. 13. In addition, there will also be a lot of stop time changes to the Kitchener, Lakeshore East, Stouffville, and Barrie lines. New details on departure times can be found here.

Travellers will also enjoy the cheap parking. A new Route 40 bus to Pearson International will stop at the park-and-ride lot at Dundas West and Hwy. 407.  This will save customers the parking rates at the airport, where you usually have to reserve your spot in advance.

To change some routes to express, some stations are being omitted – so the morning Stouffville line to Union Station will no longer stop at Danforth GO. If you are one of those passengers at Danforth that needs to jump on – don’t panic – a Lakeshore Express East train arrives only four minutes later.

All Go changes happen Jan. 13 – with the exception of Barrie whose schedule changes begin Jan. 11.

Make sure to double check your routes this January  and enjoy the extra 10 minutes to grab a coffee.
