Here’s What Midtown’s New ‘One Delisle’ Tower Will Look Like

A unique tower designed by Chicago architecture firm Studio Gang has had its plans resubmitted to the City of Toronto. ‘One Delisle’ is a proposed 16-sided building to be constructed at Yonge and St. Clair in the city’s Midtown neighbourhood.

Working with Toronto’s Slate Asset Management, this will be firm’s first venture in Canada. The structure is designed to be an intrinsic part of “a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood with thriving retail, welcoming open spaces and world-class architecture.”

With a spiralling glass exterior and green terraces, this tower is “composed of 8-storey-high elongated hexagonal modules pieced together in a honeycomb pattern.”

Originally, the building was set to stand at 48 storeys high. However, the revised plan will have it come in at 44, so as not to set a height precedent with nearby construction.

This ambitious project will improve the streetscape in the neighbourhood and boost a more “inviting and walkable” area. In the newest iteration of the plan, a redesigned pick-up and drop-off area has been undertaken.

While this project and the surrounding area set to be developed have no fixed completion date, Midtown is set to have quite the gorgeous new neighbourhood in the years to come.
