TTC Subway Closure: Lines 1 And 3 Affected This Weekend (Aug. 17-18)

Track repairs, signal testing and HVAC installments. TTC Subway service is being interrupted for all sorts of reasons this weekend. The good news is, most of the work is being confined to off-hours so, unless you rely on Line 3, this weekend's closures shouldn't have too much of an impact on you.

Here’s what you need to know:

Late Opening - Aug. 17

Line 1 subway service between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations will start by noon on Saturday, Aug. 17 to accommodate testing of the new Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system. Prior to noon on Saturday, shuttle buses and Wheel-Trans service will operate.

Late Opening - Aug. 18

Line 1 subway service between Sheppard West and Wilson stations will start by noon on Sunday, Aug. 18 to accommodate the installation of a new HVAC unit at Wilson Yard. Prior to noon on Sunday, shuttle buses and Wheel-Trans service will operate.

What’s Closed - Aug. 17

There will be no subway service on Line 3 between Kennedy and McCowan stations on Saturday, Aug. 17 due to power rail replacement. That covers Lawrence East, Ellesmere, Midland and Scarborough Centre stations.

How To Navigate The Service Disruptions

Shuttle buses will operate along the normal subway route. Buses will stop at all the regular subway station stops, just outside the typical zone. Wheel-Trans will also be available to TTC riders requiring accessible service.

Since Wilson station is not yet an accessible station, customers travelling north on Line 1 should exit at Lawrence West station and see a TTC employee for Wheel-Trans assistance.

Normal service will resume on Monday morning.
