It's the first weekend of summer and the forecast is calling for sunshine!

Take advantage of what is sure to be a beautiful weekend by getting outside and over to one of the many free events happening in the city. From food festivals to an interior design discussion to a whole bunch of Pride events, there's simply no excuse for staying home this weekend.

1. The Queensway Butter Tart Festival

Where: Queensway ParkWhen: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This one-day celebration brings together butter tart bakers and eaters for one of the sweetest festivals of the summer. The event will also include savoury treats, live entertainment and a beer garden.

2. Sarisha's Green Beauty Pop Up

Where: 426 Ossington Ave.When: Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Support local beauty brand Sarisha Beauty by swinging by their green beauty pop up. Founder Jacqueline Johal will be on site to launch the brand's new Green Goddess Glow Oil. Attendees will also get to participate in a natural beauty workshop and contouring and highlighting session.

3. June Craftic Picnic Meetup

Where: Trinity Bellwoods ParkWhen: Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Grab a blanket, a snack and an unfinished craft project and head over to Trinity Bellwoods for an afternoon of crafting in the sun. Located on the right side of the south gates, you'll find a group of like-minded craft lovers ready to mingle and create. Who knows, by the end, you might even walk away with a new friend and a finished project.

4. Design Talk With Tiffany Pratt

Where: The Poet Condos Presentation CentreWhen: Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Buy It, Fix It, Sell It host Tiffany Pratt shares expert tips on how to decorate your living space. The HGTV Canada host will focus on optimizing small spaces like condos and townhomes before chatting with fans at a meet-and-greet and book signing.

5. Creating Healing Mala Bracelets

Where: Campbell House - 160 Queen St. W.When: Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This fun and interactive workshop will have you sorting through crystals and creating a mala bracelet that matches your true self. Host Laura Sultan of the Toronto Etsy Street Team will teach you all about the different crystals and their properties.

6. Fairbank Summerfest

Where: Fairbank VillageWhen: Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Celebrate the first weekend of summer at this fun street festival. All weekend long admission, rides and entertainment are free!

7. Breathe With Brandon Guided Meditation

Where: 819 Queen St. W.When: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Join meditation guide Brandon and Consonant Skincare for a 60-minute guided meditation session that will help bring about awareness. During the session, Brandon will offer Reiki treatments and essential oils to participants. All you need is a yoga mat, comfortable clothing and an open mind.

8. Pet Therapy With Alex Murray

Where: Swansea Town HallWhen: Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Got an aggressive pup or seriously scared cat? Your furry friend may be feeling overly anxious. Join Alex Murray of Grasshopper Intuitive Healing for a free energy healing practice that may change the way you interact with your pet.

9. ProjectLoveRun: Women's Wellness Series II

Where: Union StationWhen: Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join a group of empowered women on a short 5k run followed by brunch at Lady Marmalade. During the meetup, participants will be encouraged to share their opinions on reproductive justice and women’s rights/control over their own bodies.

Vaughan Taste Of Italy

Missed Taste of Little Italy on College last weekend? Head up to Vaughan to celebrate all things Italy this weekend. Vaughan is home to over 100,000 Italians, so unlike Taste of Little Italy, there's nothing little about this Italian street festival.
