After a brutal week of TTC subway delays and closures, signal installations are shutting down part of Line 1 again this weekend.
The installation of the new Automatic Train Control signalling system has been rolling out along Line 1 for the past few weeks. This weekend it will affect four stations from Lawrence to St. Clair.
This weekend will also see service on the 501 and 503 streetcar lines divert from March 23 at 8 a.m. to March 25 at 5 a.m. Streetcar service will divert both ways between Parliament and Church Streets. Bus service will operate in replacement between River St. and University Ave.
Here’s what you need to know about this weekend’s subway closure:
There will be no subway service on Line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair stations on Saturday due to the installation of the ATC signalling system. That covers Eglington and Davisville terminals.
How To Navigate The Closure
Shuttle buses will operate, as will Wheel-Trans service. Since Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, passengers in need of an accessible station are advised to exit and request Wheel-Trans service at York Mills Station.
How To Pay
If you’re paying with PRESTO during the subway closure, just tap your card when you first board the TTC.
If you are transferring from the subway to a shuttle bus or from a shuttle bus to the subway, don’t tap your PRESTO card again. Unlike normal subway to bus transfers, shuttle buses do not need a second tap.
Cash and token fares will still be accepted on the shuttle bus, which will get you a transfer onto the subway (and vice versa).
Normal service will resume on Sunday.
