If you’ve always hoped to become a tiny homeowner, now’s your chance. A 253 sq. foot home in Oshawa, Ont., just hit the market last Wednesday, and it’s a minimalist’s dream.

The one bed, one bath property has everything you’d need in a home, including a kitchen with a breakfast bar, a three-piece bathroom, a washer and dryer unit, and a loft-style private bedroom.

Let’s take a closer look inside this spectacular space.

Upon entering, you can tell this home is fresh and modern despite its small size.

The entrance opens into the spacious kitchen area, which is complete with a sink and breakfast bar sitting directly across from the fridge and stove.

Moving towards the north side of the home is the three-piece bathroom.

The bright bathroom doesn’t feel cramped at all.

Moving to the south side of the home is the living room, which features a beautiful bay window. This home feels bigger thanks to all that natural light.

Directly above the living room is the cozy, loft-style bedroom.

And did we mention this tiny home also has its own patio space and backyard? It’s the perfect area to entertain guests.

And while it might not seem like it, this home does have ample storage space. There’s a closet on the main floor in the living room area, and a closet across from the bedroom (although you’ll need a ladder to get to it!).

To my knowledge, there isn’t anything like this at all in Oshawa, Durham Region, GTA, or even Ontario,” listing agent Miranda Fox, of Dan Plowman Team Realty, told Toronto Storeys in an email. “We did a bit of digging and can’t find record of anything smaller ever selling on the MLS system.”

Believe it or not, this tiny home isn’t a laneway house. It’s a detached home “with its own tax roll, municipal services and has its own driveway in the front. Just like a regular house, only really small,” Fox said.

The owner of the home had bought the property and the one next to it as a single parcel of land. It wasn’t until after the closing date that he discovered “he could put the original part lot line back, therefore having two separate lots.”

“As far as we know, the house has always been used as its own living space,” Fox said. “[We] found newspapers dating back to 1942 in the house when the owner renovated.”

Since the listing went up last week, the house has generated a lot of interest, Fox said.

“I expect buyers who are looking to get into the housing market or live a more minimalistic lifestyle to be interested. We will see today when we take offers what kind of buyers come to the table.”
