Leave early or stay late. Just steer clear of Union Station around rush hour today.
Metrolinx is warning commuters that the area surrounding Union Station will be particularly painful this afternoon.
According to the Crown agency, the GO Train tunnels at Union will be extra packed thanks to an almost sold-out hockey game between the Maple Leafs and the Minnesota Wild.
The game, which starts at 2 p.m. is expected to end right around 4:30 p.m. (a.k.a. the highest trafficked time regardless). To make things worse, Toronto Police Services will also be closing Bay Street south of Front St. The area will be shut down for an hour to help manage the pedestrian flow.
In a statement, Metrolinx spokesperson, Anne Marie Aikins requested for those not using transit to avoid the area by walking outside of the station up to St. Andrews Station for TTC service.
