Uber has announced that on Tuesday, November 6, anyone with an Uber account (in markets where Uber is available) can use its app to quickly find their polling place. What's more, voters can also book a ride to get their polling station — for free.

There are no strings attached and the promotion will be available to all Uber users.


The ridesharing company is teaming up with #VoteTogether and Democracy Works to provide free rides, in hopes of helping to support the democratic process.

With election day fast-approaching in Toronto, would free Uber rides to polling stations help engage more Torontonians in our civic election come October 22?

Voter turnout for mayoral elections has been historically low.

While Toronto's last civic election got about 60 per cent of eligible voters to the polls, the city's three previous elections averaged a voter turnout rate of 42.7 per cent.
