UPDATE: Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders just provided new information: An 18-year-old female and a 10-year-old girl are deceased. Their names will not be released at this time. The person responsible for the Danforth shooting has died.

Another Toronto shooting — this time in Greektown — has gripped the hearts of Torontonians and has captured the world’s attention.

Sunday night, at around 10 p.m., 10 to 20 shots rang out on the Danforth near Logan Avenue in Greektown.

Police were on site within minutes. And people within Greektown’s community were immediately helping each other.

Monday morning, the Special Investigations Unit issued a news release that said a man was walking along Danforth Avenue when he began shooting at groups of people several times.

The SIU says the gunman was located by officers on Bowden Street and an exchange of gunfire took place. According to the SIU, the suspect fled the area and was later found dead on Danforth Avenue.

Toronto police have so far confirmed that 14 people were shot, including one female. The female was pronounced dead at the scene. A child was rushed to hospital with critical injuries — there are no updates on the child’s condition as of yet.

At this point, investigators have not yet determined a motive, and are appealing to witnesses to come forward.

If you have cellphone, security, or dash camera video, police urge you to turn the footage over to them.

While we wait to learn more about this horrific incident, thought and tributes about the Toronto shooting are pouring in online from all over the world.

This has been a challenging few months for Toronto. In April, the heinous van attack at Yonge and Finch killed 10 people and injured 16. Since, there have been a growing number of shootings in the city as well.

Despite the attack and the shootings in Toronto, over the past few months, the city’s resilience and compassion continue to grow.

Our thoughts are with the victims, families, and all those affected in the Greektown shooting. As too are the thoughts of people all over Toronto and the world.

Here are some of the thoughts and tributes pouring in on Twitter:
