5 Fun (And Free And Unique) Things To Do In Toronto Victoria Day Long Weekend

Victoria Day long weekend officially falls in spring, but we all know it’s also really the official launch to summer.

So let’s start your summer off right with these five things. Don’t worry. We made sure to cover what’s fun, what’s free and what’s unique.

(Also, be sure to check out this list of what’s open and closed on Victoria Day. Of course it includes traffic closures!)

Rib And Craft Beer Festival

When: May 18 to 21
Where: Yonge-Dundas Square
Cost: Admission is free, food and beverage is extra.

May there be a better time to barbecue?

The most official kick-off to summer is always a good smoking barbecue festival.

The best rib teams in Canada will be showing off their eats at Yonge-Dundas during Victoria Day long weekend. Pork, beef, and chicken will pair perfectly with the top craft breweries across Ontario. You’ll also find live music, line-dancing, cooking lessons, and a lot more.

HarbourKIDS: Circus

When: May 20 to 22
Where: Harbourfront Centre, 231 Queens Quay West
Cost: Free

While it’s not exactly Cirque de Soleil, you can still expect to see some spectacular circus acts at Harbourfront during the long weekend.

You can bet that these performances will entertain your family, leaving them gasping in awe, doubling over with laughter — or even joining in the fun.

Trinity Bellwoods Bed-In

When: May 21
Where: Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen Street West
Cost: Free

Ever since John Lennon and Yoko Ono launched a one-night Bed-In at the King Edward Hotel in 1969, Torontonians have carried on their tradition by gathering at Trinity Bellwoods Park to honour the tradition.

Electric Island

When: May 22
Where: Woodbine Park, 1695 Queen St E, Toronto
Cost: $50 to $70

Woodbine Park will be the party hub on Victoria Day, where a massive concert and picnic highlighting electronic music will take place.

Bring a blanket, some friends, comfortable shoes and get ready to dance and party the night away. Musicians performing include Ben Klock, Eats Everything, Red Axes and more.

Victoria Day Fireworks

When: May 22
Where: Ashbridges Bay Park, 1675 Lake Shore Blvd. E.
Cost: Free

These are the one and only Victoria Day Weekend fireworks. So be sure to find a spot early!

End the long weekend with a bang with the annual firework show, which runs from 8:30 p.m. to midnight and features over 2000 fireworks.
